Easy to find seldom seen
On a fast train
Through a slow moving dream
Country singer Cody Jinks had a hit in 2019 with the song “Never Lonely, Always Alone.” That could be the theme song for many CEOs I coach. They are trapped in between owners who expect ever-increasing profits and company leaders who demand ever more resources. Each side has an agenda. Neither side can offer unbiased insight into the issues the CEO faces.
But as the leader, you’re constantly faced with challenging decisions, often with little or biased input from others.
One of the CEOs in our group was facing a difficult year. 2021 started with difficulty. Low sales numbers that were below expectations. The strategic directions he put in place in late 2020 were barely taking hold. Top executive pushed back saying the strategic direction was wrong. Some said he was not demanding enough. He had pressure from the corporate office. And then his family had some health issues. He was surrounded by people, but he was really alone.
In our 1-2-1 session we spent a lot of time digging into his “life beliefs” and uncovered the truth – that his greatest successes in life came when he pushed ahead in spite of obstacles. He brought his challenges to the group, and they supported him, backed up his direction and helped give him confidence.
And things have turned around. 2022 will likely be a record year.
In our Vistage group, our CEOs bring their toughest issues to a group of fellow CEOs to help them make better decisions – that’s what our members experience.
There are three key components of membership:
1. Perspectives and insights from a group of local peers in a confidential environment;
2. One-to-one coaching sessions with me, a Vistage Chair (CEO Coach), to address your most pressing issues and opportunities;
3. Thought leadership from world-class speakers to spark ideas and keep you ahead of the curve.
If this might help you, let’s talk.
